Agawam Sisters Win Local Gymnastics Meet

Two sisters from Agawam won first place at the second annual Daggett’s Gymnastics Invitational on February 3, 2007, at Westfield State College.  Karen Tang, age 14, competed in her first Level 10 meet, taking first on floor exercise with an outstanding 9.55 and again on beam with a 9.25.  She won the all-around with a 36.35.  Last season, Tang placed first at the 2006 Level 9 Regionals and came in third on beam at Eastern Nationals. This season, as a Level 10 gymnast, she hopes to qualify for and compete in the highest level of USA Gymnastics competition, the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Kathy Tang, age 13, won first on three events as well as the all-around at the Daggett Invitational in the Level 9 competition; she placed first on floor with a high score of  9.45, uneven bars with a 9.2, vault with a 9.0, and first in the all-around with a 36.40.   Last season, Kathy placed third in the all-around at Level 9 States, and also qualified for and competed at both Regionals and Easterns. She looks forward to another successful season.

Both sisters train with their team at Tim Daggett Gold Medal Gymnastics and are coached by Michelle Wojtowicz and Andy Leis.
